Next Subway
in New York City
Create a convenient life for New Yorkers
NS
As the New York subway continues to face overcrowding, delays, and poor connectivity across the system, expanding the subway system to enhance connectivity, promote economic growth in new areas, and relieve crowding is necessary to support New Yorkers.
Enhance Connectivity
-
Bring the subway to locations where New Yorkers would benefit from it most
-
Reduce gaps in subway service to better serve New York City
Promote Economy
-
Analyze areas with high growth potential that would benefit from subway construction
-
Drive the economy around subway stations to offset construction costs
Ease Overcrowding
-
Relieve overcrowding by providing alternate routes at bottleneck points
-
Provide safer and more convenient daily commute for New Yorker
Optimized Subway System.
Convenient lifestyle
The state of the New York City subway is one of stagnation. The hesitancy toward expansion is holding back the city from economic growth opportunities and more accessible, reliable travel for more residents across the city. As other global cities continue to build and enhance their subway systems, New York will need to do the same to continue its reputation as a global center for business, tourism, and culture.

Expanding the subway system is a monumental but important task. In response to these problems, we have collected data on subway turnstiles, socioeconomic factors, building use, and company location, and proposed 8 hypotheses for the locations of new subway lines to be evaluated. With data analysis and connectivity models, we will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each hypothesis to help decision makers select the optimal subway plan.
